Greek cotton

The evaluation of Greek cotton exports and trade has not been completed, but in view of the fact that the market price of cotton has risen and that stocks of cotton from the previous crop are running out, and that the current yield, according to all the indicators, is expected to be low as a result of the drought in the USA and China, the relevant departments need to ensure good conditions and prices for Greek cotton producers.

Can the Commission say what programmes exist and are being implemented for certified Greek cotton, and exactly how is the Commission increasing its added value for the benefit of European farmers/producers?
